Extend-A-Family works in community to support children and youth who have developmental disabilities.  We bring people together by inviting and facilitating friendships.  We believe that all people belong and have the right to participate in community.  We foster public awareness of the gifts and contributions of people with disabilities.

New Helpful Community Resource: Empowering Ability Podcast

Empowering Ability Podcast is a series focused on empowering people with disabilities to live an incredible ordinary life.  Episodes include discussion and interviews with individuals, “inclusion-thought” leaders, and experts.  The are 37 episodes in the series (as of November 9, 2017) and although they may be listened to independently of one another, it is recommended that you start with the Episode #000, the Introduction, which describes the overall purpose and goals of the series.  Please click on: https://empoweringability.podbean.com/

Planning for a Good Life with LifeCourse

November 28th, 2017    6:00 – 9:00 p.m.

This will be an interactive workshop for families and will be facilitated by Erin Sheldon.  LifeCourse visual tools will assist you to plan for your loved one and your family through the years.  The LifeCourse system is based on the core belief: “All people have the right to live, love, work, play and pursue their life aspirations in community.”

We need people who are interested in developing relationships with the children of families that we support to provide typical experiences in the community, create mutual friendship and provide a safe social network for these children. For specific opportunities:
